Honesty Time: I didn’t like Cassie (Wonder Girl) when she first turned up.
I judge really quickly and I base my judgements on the fact that I don’t know a lot. I’m pretty much a hypocrite and am kind of inferior in the DC Comics fandom. I don’t know much.
But when it comes to changing an entire season, I know where I stand. And I didn’t like the humongous change that occurred in between seasons one and two. I didn’t really like being thrown off my comfortable position at the top of the world, admiring and loving the characters set out for us in season one. I didn’t like it when the producers shoved brand new characters at us right after we’d just gotten used to loving the ones that already existed. There was a lot of development that could have been great material in those five years (Tula was in the team? What happened to Garth? Tula died? How did Aqualad find out that Black Manta was his father? What does Dick mean by “Just don’t die, okay?”? Why did Artemis and Wally leave the team and what was the journey like to get to Stanford fucking University? What the hell happened between Miss Martian and Superboy, no really now? And Dick, oh my goodness, his journey from Robin to Nightwing, where the hell is that? I’d love to see that!) and I bet they could have honestly made an entire season out of all the things they skipped in those five years.
But now I’m starting to really warm up to the season. I mean, I trust Greg Weisman and Brandon Vietti. I really do.
Especially because they’ve canonized (word usage fail?) my OTP and now they’ve been on a legit five-year-long relationship. All the awards to Weisman and Vietti, I swear.
